Train Bridge Falls

Are you looking for a place where you won’t run into many other people? This place is great for swimming and wandering around is shallow water. You can either wear shorts to wade or a swimsuit to jump in. Water shoes can be helpful for wandering as there can be some sharp rocks. Swimming under the falls or sun bathing on the rocks are excellent options here. You reach this destination by walking across a train bridge and following the trail on the left to the falls.

Things to do

  1. Swim
  2. Explore
  3. Sun Bathe
  4. Fish

Directions

From Rexburg, head north on highway 20. Take a left on E 400 N. If you hit St Anthony, you went too far. Follow the road until it stops as it eventually curves around to the right. Continue to follow the road and you will end by the train bridge. That is your cue to park, cross the bridge on foot, and turn left to the falls.

Fall Creek Falls

This is one of my personal favorites. This place is fun and beautiful at almost any time of year. You’ll find a beautiful waterfall with lots of climbing and jumping around available if you are okay with getting a little wet. Be sure to bring boots that are waterproof unless you plan on just swimming in the summer. Climb up and over or down and around the falls. There are even a few caves that you can climb under if you don’t mind a few spider webs and potential unknown creatures.

Things to do

  1. Swim
  2. Explore
  3. Take pictures
  4. Enjoy the beauty

Directions

Type in “Fall Creek Falls” into Google Maps and it will take you right there! Once you are there, it can be a little tricky to know where to stop. The maps will stop in the middle of the road and you may think that you are lost. Don’t worry, you are where you need to be. You should’ve just crossed over a little bridge and there should be a  little spot where you can pull offe on your left. Park there and follow the trail about 15 yards and you will be at the top of the falls.

Mesa Falls

Here is an easy little walk from the car to a massive waterfall. This is more of a popular spot where there are manmade walkways to view this waterfall. There are lower falls to the south that will take about a 30min hike. There are some random spots to take you on your own path out above the falls if you’re feeling adventurous, but make sure to be safe and not fall in!

Things to do

  1. Take pictures
  2. Enjoy the beauty
  3. Hike around

Directions

Use Google Maps and type in “Upper Mesa Falls.” This will take you directly to the parking for the falls. To visit the lower falls, hike the trail that leads out to the south.
